Rodrigo Meruvia Soria - General Coordinator 

Environmental Engineer with extensive field experience in Environmental Education processes.  Actually pursuing a graduate program in higher education.  Also, very experienced in integrated methodologies for Monitoring & Evaluation of tourism impact in Protected Areas.  Research member of the Climate Change, Food Security, Sustainable Organic Production, and responsible of the Volunteer Program in the foundation.  In charge of coordinating Gaia Pacha’s actions in Cochabamba and Santa Cruz.

 

Carla Campero Urcullo - Coordinadora Financiera

Carla studied a degree in economics at the University of San Simón, with MA in Tourism Management specializing in Sustainability University of the Balearic Islands. He has participated in volunteer work with local projects and personal contributions in handicraft projects. Active member of the Foundation since early 2013 occupies the internal and project financial management position and I also collaborates in the volunteer program that Gaia Pacha Foundation offers.

Helga Gruberg Cazón - Researcher

Helga is entitled in environmental engineering with specialization in rural development and innovation. He has experience in the design and implementation of projects related to climate change issues, agro-biodiversity, agricultural sustainability and alternative energy. He is an active member of Gaia Pacha since its founding in 2006. Today, it is promoting the Urban Forests and Recovery initiatives Rocha River.

Erin Beasley - Researcher

 

 

Erin holds a masters degree in environmental management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and a bachelor of science in environmental economics from Pennsylvania State University. Her work experience includes research, cultural exchange, tropical agriculture, community development, and management of non-profit organizations. Currently, she is a recipient of the Gruber Fellowship for Global Justice and Women's Rights working in the area of climate change adaptation and food security.

Andrea Vargas Elío - Researcher

Andrea is titled in Environmental Engineering with a major in Environmental Science and Environmental Sanitation mention in the Bolivian Catholic University of Cochabamba. Has experience working as a volunteer in local environmental campaigns. He completed his degree project in the city of Oruro, with a proposal for environmental remediation for a former tin smelter. He specializes in environmental management systems, occupational health and safety. He now works as a researcher within our climate change project.

Yumy Velásquez López - Researcher

Yumy is titled in Environmental Engineering at the Bolivian Catholic University "San Pablo" of Cochabamba; He is currently doing his master's degree in Integrated Management Systems. He has experience working as a volunteer as a technician in monitoring air quality with Monica Network as well as environmental campaigns. Coordinated activities such as Earth Hour in Potosi. He likes to stay up to date on environmental alternatives that can improve our quality of life in balance with the environment.

 

Claudia Velarde - Administrative Coordinator


She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from the Bolivian Catholic University and a master’s degree in Environmental Sciences in the Universidad de León (Spain).  Especial skills in conflict resolution, analysis and design of policy instruments, sustainable rural development, gender & diversity, protected areas management, and environmental education.

 
 
 
 

Sofia Tahirih Vexina Claros - Researcher

Sofia is Environmental Engineer, she is part of the Foundation since its creation, skills development through training and environmental education with gender also developing radio programs. Now takes over Urban Forest Project in the city of Cochabamba, coordinating, planning and implementing this important reforestation project.

 

 

 

Santa Cruz Team

César J. Pérez Hurtado


Holds a bachelors’ degree in Environmental Engineering and a master degree of Environmental Sciences at the State University of New York (Syracuse, USA).  Former Fulbright scholar and environmental science professional with experience in formal and non-formal educational processes; implementation of incentives for Water & Forest conservation; and capable of making informed decisions through the spatial analysis of anthropogenic intervention in forested land for potential conservation projects.  He is in charge of the Gaia Pacha actions in the state of Santa Cruz. 

 


Indira Vargas


She holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering at the Bolivian Catholic University and has more than 10 years of field experience.  She is a national authority in Monitoring & Evaluation of the Air Quality.  She was part of the nation-wide program Red MONICA to monitor the air quality by using passive and active methods. She also has experience in the design and implementation of air pollution control points for cars and motorcycles.  She in charge to coordinate all the Gaia Pacha projects in the Santa Cruz department. 

 

Olivia Balderrama


She studied the Education Science career at the Bolivian Catholic University and has a technical degree in Communication and Language for Middle and High School.  She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Education with a minor in Communication, Language, and Literature.  Has extensive experience as high school teacher and writer & editor for some Editorial companies in Bolivia.  She also has experience as a Counselor for the Thorthen Park Summer Camps in Syracuse New York, and Coordinator for a Nutritional Education project at the Nutritional Recovery Center in the Simón I. Patiño Foundation.  She is in charge of the education and community extension programs.

 

Ana B. Alvarado (Researcher & Trainer - Earthkeepers Program)

Ana is a senior student of the Environmental Engineering carreer at the  Aquino Bolivia University (UDABOL), and also a founding member of the civil organization Conciencia Accion Verde (CAV – Green ConsciousnessAction). She has extensive experience and interest in research and education.  She participated in a project of the Gaia Pacha foundation to determine the impact of transgenic crops in the environment and health.  This research took place in the northern area of the department of Santa Cruz.  Now, she is part of the team organizing and impulsing the Earthkeepers program.  She is conducting her thesis research with this same program.

 

Jorge A. Meza M. (Researcher  - Earthkeepers Program)

Jorge is a last year student of the Environmental Engineering career at the Aquino Bolivia University (UDABOL), and also a 4th semester student of Process Control Engineering at the Gabriel Rene Moreno Autonomous University (UAGRM) in Santa Cruz.  Also, he has experience in educational processes and personnel management.  With a positive and joyful attitude, now he is a member of the Earthkeepers team where he is conducting his thesis research and is one of the trainers in the same program.

Wendy Claros (Entrenadora - Programa Earthkeepers)

Wendy is a student of Environmental Engineering at the Autonomous University Gabriel Rene Moreno and corresponding member of the Scientific Society. She is also learning English at the Centro Boliviano Americano. His desire to preserve the environment and the desire to learn every day have been your engine to achieve its objectives. He is currently coach of the team Earthkeepers program.

Caren Gutierrez (Programa Earthkeepers)

Caren is currently a student of Environmental Engineering at the Autonomous University Gabriel Rene Moreno in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. He participated in educational programs "Sustainable Vegetable Gardens" coordinated with the Interior and the Simon I. Patino Foundation in Santa Cruz to teach children about environmental conservation and care of our planet. It is keen to learn about the area of environmental education and a passion for teaching children, youth and adults.

Pamela Sossa (Programa Earthkeepers)

Pamela is a graduate of Environmental Engineering and conducted a specialty in Industrial Safety at the Autonomous University Gabriel Rene Moreno. His passion is oriented learning and knowledge of environmental challenges to propose sustainable. It is part of the Earthkeepers program team and seeks to create a positive impact on people for the preservation of the environment.

Marcelo Alarcón Bravo (Programa Earthkeepers)

Marcelo studied Business Administration and Philosophy & Cinematography. It has a postgraduate degree in Sustainable Business Management, Products and Tourist Destinations. He participated as a guide in the program monitor student environmental reports Green Route for 5 days in Amboró National Park with 25 teenagers. Is excited to develop outdoor recreational activities in contact with nature and surround yourself with people that promotes personal development.

Luis Enrique Poggi Montalvo (Programa Earthkeepers)

Luis is a student of eighth semester of Environmental Engineering at the University of Aquino Bolivia city of Santa Cruz. He is very interested in learning more about environmental education processes to communicate and create a significant impact on society.

Mary Luz Ramos Lazarte (Programa Earthkeepers)

Mary Luz is a student of Environmental Engineering at the Autonomous University Gabriel René Moreno. Mary Luz has previously worked on projects of sustainable gardens by different institutions giving guidance to children about the importance of the environment. Currently he is excited to be part of the team Earthkeepers.

Silvia Patricia Anagua Encinas (Programa Earthkeepers)

Silvia is a student of environmental engineering career at the Autonomous University Gabriel Rene Moreno and also had the opportunity to participate in the project Sustainable Schools in different educational units in the city. He is passionate support and guide children about the importance of the environment and their respective care.

Ximena Brigida Cruz Cruz (Programa Earthkeepers)

Ximena is a graduate of Environmental Engineering at the Autonomous University Gabriel Rene Moreno and has a specialization in industrial safety and risk. Together with a group of partners participated in a project in a community in the municipality of Gutierrez (Cordillerra- Santa Cruz province) to teach about the treatment of organic waste (compost and vermiculture). He also has experience in environmental education processes in primary schools through the Eco-School Project II. It is "super excited" to be part of the Earthkeepers program to teach care for our environment.

Luisa Arancibia Arce (Programa Earthkeepers)

Luisa has a degree in Tourism with a master's degree in Ecology and Conservation specializing in Conservation and Management of Biodiversity at the University of San Andrés (UMSA). His thesis was an analysis of anthropogenic fragmentation processes and promoting ecotourism as a tool for assessing ecosystem services in RAMSAR sites. He currently teaches the Environment of the career of Tourism at different universities. Luisa has also worked with primary and university students in different environmental education campaigns promoting service projects. He has extensive experience working as a volunteer in local environmental campaigns.

Rosa Dunia García Vargas (Programa Earthkeepers)

Rosa is a student of environmental engineering at the Autonomous University Gabriel Rene Moreno. She really likes the outdoors and is very interested in the research area. He also likes to explore new places and is interested in ecotourism.
