This campaign, which began in 2012, is a response to the major problem of waste generation.
The initiative addresses the over-use and inefficient disposal of plastic bags in a city where the growing population and their waste generation exceed the municipal landfill’s capacity, leading to a deterioration in the beauty of the city.
For this project, Gaia Pacha is:
a) conducting a broad educational program addressed to potential customers (plastic bag users) in schools and city neighborhoods,
b) proposing the re-use of re-cycled bags made from PET bottles, and
c) establishing strategic alliances with the most important commercial centers in the city in order to promote the use of the environmentally friendly, fabric-made bags.
